Hirak Ray
UX Researcher with 8+ years of experience running qualitative and quantitative research across usability, privacy, accessibility, and education. I currently drive UX research at the University of Virginia, where my work spans website redesigns, ethnographic research, and large-scale surveys that inform real infrastructure decisions.
My research background is in privacy and usability for under-represented users — particularly older adults — through my Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing at UMBC, advised by Dr. Ravi Kuber and Dr. Adam J. Aviv (GWU). That work produced five peer-reviewed publications (216 citations) in venues including USENIX Security, CHI, and PETS.
The mission: To understand the needs of under-represented users and improve equitable usability.
